Form Tags
Form Tags let you organize your donation forms into groups and have an “archive” page of all of those forms. This is very useful for organizations with a large amount of different donation campaigns.
Just like posts in WordPress, you can organize your forms into Tags. This feature is off by default because it does not necessarily apply to all types of users who accept donations.
To enable it, go to “Donations > Settings”, and go to the “Display Options” tab. You’ll see a section called “Taxonomies” where you can enable both Tags and Categories for your forms.
Now when you go into either your pre-existing or new forms, you’ll see a new section (called a metabox) in the right-hand sidebar that says “Form Tags”. From there you can add any new tag you like.
You will also notice a new sub-menu item under the “Donations” menu, called “Tags”. Just like with Post Tags, you can go to that page and add as many Form Tags as you like.
Note that in contrast to Form Categories, Form Tags are not hierarchical. Tags are most often used as a simple way for your users to search for content that relates to their interest.
For example, perhaps your Church has forms in categories like “Adult Programs”, “Youth Programs”, and “Early Childhood Programs”. But across all those programs you do “Bake Sales”. Tags allow you to “tag” each of those Bake Sales across all those Categories with the same tag. That way, if a congregant is interested in giving to any Bake Sale, regardless of age-based Category, they can find all the Bake Sales for your entire Congregation.
Form Tags can help you organize forms across all your categories by interest. There are limitless ways to think about how Tags can help your users more easily find your donation forms.
A Note About Styling Your Form Tag Pages
Tag pages in WordPress are called Taxonomy Archives. WordPress has a robust “Theme Hierarchy” which handles how Taxonomy Archive pages are output. Your theme is what drives the layout and format of these pages.
