Email Tags

Your emails can be customized to contain dynamic information based on the donor and/or donation in question. This is done with what is called “email tags”. Below is a complete list of the Email Tags you have available in GiveWP Core and our various add-ons.

GiveWP Core Email Tags

  • {donation} – The donation form name and the donation level (if applicable).
  • {amount} – The total donation amount with a currency sign.
  • {price} – The total donation amount with a currency sign.
  • {billing_address} – The donor’s billing address.
  • {date} – The date of the donation.
  • {payment_id} – The unique ID number for this donation.
  • {payment_method} – The method of payment used for this donation.
  • {payment_total} – The payment total for this donation.
  • {receipt_id} – The unique ID number for this donation receipt.
  • {receipt_link} – The donation receipt direct link to view the receipt on the website.
  • {receipt_link_url} – The donation receipt direct URL to view the receipt on the website.
  • {form_title} – The donation form name.
  • {name} – The donor’s first name.
  • {fullname} – The donor’s full name, first and last.
  • {username} – The donor’s user name on the site if they registered an account.
  • {user_email} – The donor’s email address.
  • {email_access_link} – The donor’s email access link.
  • {donor_note} – Sent to the donor when a new donation note is added to their donation
  • {donor_comment} – The donor comment that was submitted with the donation
  • {sitename} – The name of your site.
  • {reset_password_link} – The reset password link for the user.

Certain Add-ons have their own unique email tags that are added to this list as well. For example:

PDF Receipts

  • {pdf_receipt} – Creates a link to a downloadable receipt

Form Field Manager

  • {all_custom_fields} – This tag can be used to output a donation form’s custom field data created through Form Field Manager.

Tributes

  • {tribute_info} – If you have the chosen/enabled the notify option you can also use this email tag. The output depends on the option chosen for your Tributes notification settings.
    • Mail a card – This will output the information of donor, honoree and the mailing addressFor example:
      {donor_name} has requested that their donation be made in honor of {tribute} to {honoree_name}. Here is the mailing address for this Tribute:
      Donor Name
      Street
      City, State Zip
      Country
    • eCards – This will output the information of donor and the honoree.
      For example:
      {donor_name} has requested that their donation be made in honor of {tribute} {honoree_name} and opted to send an eCard.

Recurring Donations

  • {subscription_frequency} – Displays the subscription frequency based on its period and times. For instance, “Monthly for 3 Months”, or simply “Monthly” if bill times is 0
  • {subscriptions_completed} – Displays the number of subscriptions completed with the total bill times. For instance “1/3” or “1 / ∞”
  • {payment_method} – The method of payment used for this donation subscription
  • {cancellation_date} – The date this subscription was cancelled
  • {completion_date} – The date the recurring subscription will end.
  • {renewal_link} – dynamically outputs a link that when clicked allows the donor to restart their recurring donation.
