When you’re being flown by helicopter to a trail that is a far cry from the bunny slope, the last thing you need is to be distracted by fundraising. Quite literally, Trace Cooke needs to keep his eye on the prize and Give is helping him do that.
Cause
Last season, Trace skied well enough to be considered one of the best at the sport of Freeride Skiing in the World. What is that?
“Today, Hale-Woods oversees an annual world ski and snowboard circuit – the Freeride World Tour — that travels from Russia to America and back to his home Alps for the final events. The very cream of riders – skiers and snowboarders, men and women – all vie for an invitation to this prestigious event.” Freeride World Tour History
Making the Pro tour was exhilarating but to compete at this level required working 12 hours a day or more or getting sponsors who are generous enough to cover equipment. Trace needed self-funding.

A world-wide tour is exactly that — world-wide. Trace needs the funds to travel to Europe and back, travel to Alaska and back, and then go back to Europe. It’s going to be a 120 days’ worth of competitive touring.
Trace’s Campaign Goal
Trace just needs roughly $3,500 to cover travel expenses.
How Trace Used Give
As a beginner WordPress user, Trace was able to create their “Launch Trace” campaign by just creating a simple form with multiple levels and inserted the shortcode onto their fundraising page. The form also shows their goal progress visually.
Trace has sponsors who are providing some swag to donors as incentives at different donation levels — a useful campaign strategy for sure.
Two donation gateways were offered: PayPal and Offline.
Campaign Results
After only one week they hit 50% of their goal. Amazing! As of this post they only have roughly $750 left.
The campaign will run until November 20, 2015, or until their goal has been achieved.
