About the Cause

The Nyle DiMarco Foundation is a national philanthropic resource for all organizations, institutions, and individuals working to improve the lives of every Deaf and hard of hearing person in the world.

The Foundation aims to improve access to accurate, research-based information about early language acquisition. Specifically, the bilingual education approach in early childhood education. Through the early intervention process, the child’s language and literacy development should be the focal point.

Campaign Goal: 25,000

Their website discusses the partnership with LEAD-K who is matching contributions.

“I am also excited to share that in celebration of our partnership with LEAD-K, NDF is starting a $25,000 fundraising challenge! NDF will personally put up half of this amount ($12,500), and asks that our supporters join us in donating to this important campaign. Your help today goes toward supporting advocacy and public awareness efforts towards language competency for Deaf and Hard of Hearing children in the USA!”

How the Foundation Used Give

The Nyle DiMarco Foundation needed a platform on which to make resources available, create campaigns, and collect donations to support their cause. To meet these requirements, the WordPress publishing platform and Give’s suite of add-ons were an excellent choice.

They liked Give because of “ease of use, set-up, and because they offered integrations with Stripe, NDF’s preferred payment gateway.” They also wanted the ability to use PayPal which is a popular choice of payment among users.

A couple campaigns have been created so far with textual and video content on the donation pages, and the recurring donation plugin is utilized to offer donors the option of continuously supporting the Foundation via automatic monthly contributions.

We’ve used the goals feature as part of the LEAD-K Campaign, in which the Foundation is offering to match half of the total donations made and a kind of meter was needed to show progress. Give’s plugins met all these requirements easily.

Of note is the donation button on the hero image. We know that making it easy for people to see donation choices increases their ability to do so.

Campaign Results

The results have been a big success so far. NDF has collected over $18,000 in donations since the website launched in April 2016 and donors have helped to spread awareness and garner more support by sharing the donation page via social media and reaching tens of thousands of people.
